Reading
We will not follow a single required textbook, but instead we will
follow two (for two different parts of the course), plus some classical
research papers:
- J. Walrand, P. Varaiya. High-Performance Communication Networks.
Morgan-Kaufmann Publishers, 2000.
- D. Bertsekas, R. G. Gallager. Data Networks (2nd edition).
Prentice-Hall, 1992.
- Some research/tutorial papers, to be posted here as needed.
Since these are fairly expensive books, I am not making any of them
required. All of them are on reserve at Carpenter library.
Some other useful textbooks for reference (also on reserve):
- J. F. Kurose, K. W. Ross. Computer Networking: a Top-Down Approach
Featuring the Internet. Addison-Wesley, 2003.
- W. Stallings. Data and Computer Communications (7th edition).
Prentice-Hall, 2004.
- A. Leon-Garcia, I. Widjaja. Communication Networks
(2nd edition). McGraw-Hill, 2004.
